Novice Pivot Steer Forklift Training is designed to develop the core skills required to operate pivot steer lift trucks safely in high-density racking environments. This RTITB-accredited course provides structured instruction for beginners, covering pre-use inspections, load handling techniques, truck features, and operator responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

 

Training duration depends on group size, ranging from a minimum of 19.5 hours for one-to-one training to 32.5 hours for groups of three. 

Please note: This Novice Pivot Steer Forklift Training course is currently available off site only, delivered at employer premises with access to suitable equipment and facilities. It is not available at our training centres at this time.

 

This basic training does not cover all site-specific tasks or lift configurations. Employers are responsible for providing additional Familiarisation and Specific Job training to reflect the complexity of individual working environments.

  • Equipment Familiarity: Understand the function and layout of industrial pivot steer lift trucks, including key components and safety features.

  • Workplace Responsibilities: Learn about operator duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the importance of site-specific risk awareness.

  • Pre-Use Inspections: Carry out effective daily checks and understand reporting procedures to maintain equipment safety and compliance.

  • Safe Operating Techniques: Practise controlled manoeuvring in confined spaces and high-density racking environments.

  • Load Assessment and Handling: Develop confidence in assessing loads, stacking securely, and maintaining truck stability during transfers.

  • Operating Area Awareness: Learn to identify and select safe operating zones within a workplace setting.

  • Authorisation Procedures: Understand the importance of operator authorisation and the employer’s responsibilities for Familiarisation and Job-Specific training.

  • Assessment and Certification: Demonstrate knowledge and practical ability to meet the standards required for RTITB certification.
  • RTITB Accreditation: Gain a recognised qualification that meets national industry standards.
