Job Title: Freelance ESOL and Employability Tutor

We are seeking a committed and adaptable tutor to deliver short ESOL and employability programmes across the North West. This role suits someone who values high quality teaching and takes pride in helping adults strengthen their English skills, build practical workplace readiness and move closer to employment.
About the role
You will deliver non regulated ESOL and employability training to adults from varied backgrounds. Courses run for five to ten days and are scheduled based on demand, so flexibility is essential. This is a self employed position and delivery will vary week to week depending on programme bookings.
Our ESOL provision is practical and workplace driven. It focuses on functional English that supports real employment needs rather than formal grammar or college style academic progression. Sessions cover spoken and written communication used in everyday work settings such as instructions, short messages, simple reports, workplace conversations and common employer expectations.
Speaking additional languages can support engagement, but all delivery is in English.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver engaging ESOL and employability sessions using the curriculum and resources provided
- Teach functional workplace language linked to real job roles and work tasks
- Create a supportive learning environment that encourages participation and progress
- Provide job search support including applications, CV guidance, interview preparation and workplace expectations
- Adapt delivery to meet varied learner needs while maintaining course structure
- Complete attendance registers, learner paperwork and progress records to a high standard
- Work towards agreed KPIs including retention, completion and progression
- Provide professional feedback to help refine and strengthen training materials
- Travel to delivery sites across the North West as required
Essential Requirements
- A tutor who enjoys working with adults and takes pride in seeing learners progress
- Experience in adult skills, employability, ESOL or community based training
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing mixed ability groups
- Reliable time management and the ability to work independently
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, as delivery will take place across multiple locations within the North West
- Current DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
- A recognised teaching qualification appropriate for adult delivery
- Evidence of recent and relevant continuing professional development
- ESOL experience is desirable but not essential

Additional information
- This is a self employed freelance role and tutors invoice for days delivered
- Delivery may take place in community venues, partner locations or training centres
- Mileage or travel arrangements will be discussed during onboarding
- This is a freelance position with the potential for employed opportunities in future, subject to delivery needs
